29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered and protective equipment was not maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition: (a) Arby's at 644 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA -- Goggles and apron(s) were not provided to employee(s) when they are required to clean the Pitco frialator, model SG 14R-JS, and perform the fryer filtering, rotation, and boil out of the three (3) fryers, exposing employee(s) to potential burn injuries from high temperature cooking oil. (b) Arby's at 644 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA -- On or about 10/11/2012, only one (1) pair of steel mesh gloves was observed which was not maintained in a sanitary condition, had several tears, and was the only pair of gloves made available for all crew members who have to clean/assemble and disassemble the meat slicer and slicer parts, exposing employee(s) to potential cuts.

29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: (a) Arby's at 644 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA -- The employer did not select and require those employee(s) who have the task of cleaning the Pitco frialator, model SG 14R-JS, and the fryer filtering, rotation, and boil out of the three (3) fryers, to use appropriate hand protection when employee(s) hands have potential exposure to burns from high temperature cooking oil.
