29 CFR 1926.701(b): Reinforcing steel. All protruding reinforcing steel, onto and into which employees could fall, shall be guarded to eliminate the hazard of impalement. a) 1100 Bord Du Lac Dr., Lake Charles, LA; the employer failed to ensure that rebar used to barricade off stamped concrete was capped. Employees making concrete forms for planter walls near the uncapped rebar were exposed to the hazards of impalement. The rebar had an unprotected vertical height of 36 inches.
