29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):  One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc.    1) On or about 03/12/13, on the east side of the Machine Shop, the employer allowed employees to operate a Birmingham lathe to shape polymer rings without a chuck guard.     2) On or about 12 MAR 2013, on the east side of the Machine Shop, the employer allowed employees to operate a Mardini Mascote lathe to shape polymer rings without a chuck guard.     The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard which was contained in OSHA inspection number 314775651, citation number 1, item number 5 and was affirmed as a final order on 3/12/12, with respect to a workplace located at 1650 Swan Lake Rd, Bossier City, LA 71111.
