29 CFR 1910.23(c)(3): Every window wall opening at a stairway landing, floor, platform or balcony, from which there is a drop of more than 4 feet and where the bottom of the opening is less than 3 feet above the platform or landing, shall be guarded by standard slats, standard grill work or standard railing.    a) At the extrusion line where there was exposure of workers to falls into the line while changing knife blades, a standard guardrail complete with adequate toeboard to prevent rolloff falls was not in place.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc.      a) Regrinder #2 the guarding was inadequate in that the opening was excessive exposing employees to rotating parts.
