29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.      On or about July 3, 2014, on the east side of the commercial building, one employee engaged in roofing activities without fall protection was exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 11 feet to the lower level.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed.      On or about July 3, 2014, on the east side of the commercial construction site, one employee using an extension ladder to access the roof Awning without the side rails extending 3 feet above the landing was exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 11 feet to the ground below.
