On or about 07/30/2014, where an employee used HOODSTRIP-290, a chemical containing 75-80% Methylene Chloride for furniture stripping operations, the employer failed to implement and maintain efficient engineering controls to reduce the airborne concentration below the STEL. Personal sampling performed on this day for 16 minutes determined that employee was exposed to a concentration of 340 parts per million (ppm), approximately 2.7 times the 125 ppm of the STEL.
