Process tech employees are required to perform set up and changeover operations on equipment but had only received awareness training as affected employees.  Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and pinch points:  a)  Production Area, on or about 10/14/15:  The Gaylord tipper for the Sidel SBO 4/2 preform was not adequately guarded in that the gates around the tipper were not interlocked.  b)  Production Area, on or about 10/14/15:  Ingoing nip points on the transfer belts and pulleys on the bottle exit end conveyor line for the Sidel SBO 4/2 Line 6 were not guarded.  c)  Production Area, on or about 10/14/15:  Pinch points on two pressure heads at the B&W leak tester station were not guarded.  d)  Production Area, on or about 10/14/15:  Pinch points on two pressure heads at the Kautex leak tester station Line 3 were not guarded.  Abatement certification must be submitted for these items.
