29 CFR 1915.12(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that spaces that had been sealed were visually inspected and tested by a competent person to determine the atmosphere's oxygen content prior to initial entry into the space by an employee. a) Company yard, 56 South Country Rd., Westhampton Beach, NY: An employee entered a previously sealed, confined space inside the hull of a barge without prior atmospheric testing. The worker became dizzy and nauseated; on or about 2/23/16. Note: In addition to abatement certification the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.

Note: In addition to abatement certification the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
