OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that stop buttons are not operable. Production area - On or about August 5, 2016, employees were required to operate a Heartland pallet dismantler band saw. The two stop buttons were not operable on the Heartland pallet dismantler band saw. Employees were thereby exposed to the amputation and laceration hazards . One feasible and acceptable method, among other, to correct this hazard is to follow the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 79, Electrical Standard for Machinery, 2015 Edition, Section 10.7.1.1, Stop and emergency stop pushbuttons shall be continuously operable and readily accessible.
