29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): When the employer had assessed the workplace hazard(s) and determined that hazard(s) were present, the employer did not select and/or use the types of personal protective equipment that would protect the affected employee from the hazard:  a. For work in the quality control lab where glacial acetic acid was used for testing parts, the written hazard assessment stated PVC or neoprene glove material was to be used in contradiction of rubber or nitrile glove material stated on the safety data sheet, and which was actually the glove material that has been recently used in the lab.  (Note: neoprene gloves were also available for use.)  b. The written hazard assessment was not specific for body protection to be used during testing with glacial acetic acid.   c. No sanitary wipes or other method for cleaning the face shield were provided.  Written abatement documentation is required for this violation.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(3)(i): The employee training did not include the methods and observations used to detect the presence or release of a hazardous chemical in the work area (such as monitoring conducted by the employer and continuous monitoring devices):  For work in the quality control lab where glacial acetic acid was used for testing parts, the written work instruction stated to "confirm that air flow in hood is drawing at a minimum of 100 fpm (paint booth has an anemometer)," however no anemometer was present and there was no apparent alternative method employees could use to determine designated air flow.   Written abatement documentation is required for this violation.
