29 CFR 1910.179(n)(3)(iv): Cranes were used for side pulls and not specifically authorized by a responsible person who had determined that the stability of the crane was not thereby endangered and that various parts of the crane would not be overstressed.  a) Paint Bay/Demag 35 Ton Bridge Crane: On or about February 26, 2018, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to struck-by and crushing hazards, in that employees were allowed to side load when lifting bridge girders in the paint bay resulting in injury to the operator.
