On or about May 2, 2018, the employer did not ensure one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect machine operators from the hazards created by the downward motion/closing action of the ram. Employees operate device by a simple start/stop switch. No other guarding is present on the Redford Core Blower (SN# 4-44-22) on the Novaset Line 2. The opening between the core mold and the sand blower exposing the employees to a crushing hazard is 2.5 inches. The mold is 10 inches tall and the table was set with an opening of 12.5 inches.     c.  On or about May 2, 2018, the employer did not ensure one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect machine operators from the hazards created by the downward motion/closing action of the ram. Employees operate device by a simple start/stop switch. No other guarding is present on the Compactor on the Novaset Line 1. The opening between the core mold and the Compactor exposing the employees to a crushing hazard is 6.5 inches. The mold is of 10.5 inches and the compactor has an opening of 16.5 inches with no mold.     d.  On or about May 2, 2018, the employer did not ensure one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect machine operators from the hazards created by the downward motion/closing action of the ram. Employees operate device by a simple start/stop switch. No other guarding is present on the Compactor on the Novaset Line 2. The opening between the core mold and the Compactor exposing the employees to a crushing hazard is 7 inches. The mold is of 11 inches and the compactor has an opening of 18 inches with no mold.
