Employees could not recall the name of the chemicals used, and many had not received training on Safety Data Sheets.

The employer is failing to protect employees from eye injury hazards associated with handling corrosive chemicals, specifically Home-Style Solid Detergent. The employees replace the laundry detergent into the laundry detergent dispenser hooked onto the washing machine. Home-Style Solid Detergent is a category 1 skin corrosive and eye irritant. The employer did not have a suitable emergency eyewash installed in the hopper room or the adjacent laundry room.  Bickford Senior Living, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, 29 CFR 1910.151(c), which is contained in OSHA inspection number 1017975, Citation #1, Item #2, and was affirmed as final order on April 13, 2015.
