OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to in-running nip points and rotating parts by improperly handling scrap wire to close to operating tubular stranding machines:    Wire Mill:  On, or about, February 20, 2019, an employee was seriously injured when the scrap wire that he was holding was pulled into the rotating barrel of Bartell Tubular Stranding Machine #17. The company lacked specific work procedures for handling scrap wire that was generated during the manufacturing process.    Among others, one feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard is to:    1.  Develop and implement specific procedures for controlling and handling scrap wire, including during machine set-up, removing wire from reels and during general housekeeping tasks.  2.  Ensure that all employees are provided with training.  3.  Provide adequate supervision to ensure that scrap handling procedures are being followed.
