1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. (a) On or about September 1, 2020 - employees working outside replacing a fire hydrant were exposed to the hazards of high ambient temperatures and working in direct sunlight, which produced Wet Bulb Globe Temperatures (WBGT) of approximately 87.6 degrees Fahrenheit, while performing light to moderate manual labor. Such exposures may lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and death.
