29 CFR 1926.652(c)(2)(ii): Deviation from the specifications, recommendations, and limitations issued or made by the manufacturer were allowed without the manufacturer's specific written approval:   a) On or about April 4, 2022, without having manufacturer's specific written approval, two trench boxes/shields were stacked for use as cave-in protection in a trench having a depth of approximately 13 feet, without the use of stacking pins as designed by the manufacturer.    b) On or about April 4, 2022, without manufacturer's specific written approval, a steel road plate was placed on the spreaders of a trench box/shield as a means of cave-in protection at a depth of approximately 14 1/2 feet.  No abatement certification or documentation required for this violation.
