29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  (a) Proximity Malt, LLC in Monte Vista, CO: On or before 5/25/22 the employer did not protect employees from injury in that the sheet metal guard protecting the rotary airlock on the dust collector had been cut to allow unrestricted dust flow from cyclone into barrels. An employee replacing dust barrels suffered fingertip amputations as a result of the guard being made inoperable. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards.  Abatement Note: Abatement certification is not required for this item.
