29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could have resulted in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems: On or about 11/15/2022, the employer did ensure the inspections were conducted by a competent person who has the knowledge to identify hazards associated with working in an excavation. Employees were exposed to cave-in hazards when working in an unprotected excavation approximately ten (10) feet in depth, approximately fifteen (15) feet wide, approximately fifteen (15) feet in length.
