29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2): Machine guard(s) on machine(s) were so installed that they offered accident hazards in themselves: a.) American Iron and Metal Recycling Erie, LLC - On or about 4/18/23, and at times prior thereto, the company had installed an adjustable guard on a shear. The guard created a pinch point between the guard and the piece of metal being cut. An employee sustained a fingertip amputation when his finger was caught between the metal and the guard. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

American Iron and Metal Recycling Erie, LLC - On or about 4/18/23, and at times prior thereto, the company had not provided hand tools for use while placing parts in the shear. An employee sustained a fingertip amputation when his finger was caught between the metal being cut and the machine guard.
