29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Facility, Octagon Coil Slitting Machine: On or about May 3, 2023, employees were exposed to unguarded slitter arbors. These slitter arbors cut up to 60 inches of coil steel into order sizes. There was no guard nor device to keep employees from contacting the in-running arbors. (b) Facility, Octagon Coil Slitting Machine: The 6 inch powered in-running top roller was unguarded. This top roller helps to guide (feed) the coil of steel into the Octagon Coil Slitting Machine.
