29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:        a) Machine Shop - On or about January 31, the employer did not ensure that the Chevalier milling machine, model #FM - 63R, serial #RC 886002, was not equipped with an enclosure guard to protect employees from the rotating chuck.   b) Machine Shop - On or about January 31, the employer did not ensure that the DynaPath milling machine, model #4VKNC, serial #13U01F, was not equipped with an enclosure guards to protect employees from the rotating chuck on the lathe and drill.     c) Machine Shop - On or about January 31, the employer did not ensure that the Clausing milling machine, serial #AA - 975, was not equipped with an enclosure guards to protect employees from the rotating chuck on the lathe and drill.     d) Machine Shop - On or about January 31, the employer did not ensure that the Chevalier milling machine, model #FM - 63RD, serial #RC 857115, was not equipped with an enclosure guard to protect employees from the rotating chuck.   e) Machine Shop - On or about January 31, the employer did not ensure that the Clausing milling machine, serial #Z - 998, was not equipped with an enclosure guards to protect employees from the rotating chuck on the lathe and drill.     f) Machine Shop - On January 31, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that all unused portions of saw blades, including that on the W.F Wells, horizontal saw model W#-9-1, serial #W01,  were guarded to prevent injury to employees.     g) Grinding Area - On or about January 31, 2024, the employer did not ensure that the ingoing nip points on the Delta Belt Sander, model #3W553B,  was guarded.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
