The employees were exposed to slip, trip, and fall hazards with pallets and metal shelving units blocking the only path of travel.

29 CFR 1910.36(d)(1): Employee(s) were not able to open an exit route door from the inside at all times without keys, tools, or special knowledge:  On or about February 8, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees are able to open the exit route door from the inside at all times without keys, tools, or special knowledge. Employees working in the facility were exposed to fire hazards from the locks being placed on the emergency exit doors in the following locations:   A) Emergency exit directly on the far eastern wall from cooler #2 was affixed with a dead bolt lock from the inside requiring specials tools or knowledge to open in the event of an emergency.   B) Emergency exit in the shipping and receiving area was affixed with a slide bolt lock from the inside requiring special tools or knowledge to open in the event of an emergency.

B) The emergency exit door located inside cooler #4 referred to as the electric panel room was not kept free and unobstructed with metal rolling shelves and anti-fatigue mats blocking the path of egress.
