29 CFR 1926.102(a)(2): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses eye protection that provides side protection when there is a hazard from flying objects. Detachable side protectors (e.g. clip-on or slide-on side shields) meeting the pertinent requirements of this section are acceptable: On or about February 27, 2024, the employer failed to ensure employees were provided eye protection when operating pneumatic nail guns while installing roofing materials. This condition exposed employees to the hazard of projectiles to the eyes.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee(s) engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b): On or about February 22, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that two employees were protected from injury while removing and installing shingles on a single-story residential home, with a roof pitch of approximately 4-in-12, were not utilizing a fall protection system. This condition exposed the employees to a fall of approximately 9.5 ft. RAPS HOME IMPROVEMENT WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 1926,501(B)(13), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1443959, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON 11/19/2019, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 802 W FRANKLIN STREET, TAYLORVILLE, IL 62568.
