Olathe, Kansas, employees engaged in automotive detailing activities in the paint preparation area and detail bay area were exposed to chemical hazards when using unlabeled chemical containers. Unlabeled secondary spray and squeeze bottles filled with Key Wash-N-Wax car wash soap/wax and 3M Perfect-It EX AC rubbing compound were found on the product shelves and carts within the paint preparation area and detail bay. Exposure to these chemicals could result in: skin and eye irritation, redness, itching and dryness, respiratory system irritation and may cause an allergic skin reaction.

29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i): Respirators were not stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals or  were not packed or stored to prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valve:  At the workplace located at 2202 North Rogers Rd. Olathe, Kansas, employees engaged in automotive sanding activities in the paint preparation area and detail bay area were exposed to respiratory irritation and chemical hazards. The employer failed to ensure all painter employees, required to wear a 3M half facepiece respirator, properly store their respirators. Respirators were openly stored on a blue toolbox in the paint preparation area and within a cardboard box in the detail bay. The respirators were not protected from exposure to chemical residue or dust.  The Crash Champions, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1538856, citation number 1, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on October 7, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 812 W. 1st St. Newton, KS 67114.
