29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Workers and other persons adjacent to the welding area were not required to wear appropriate goggles to protect them from the rays when noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields were not used: a) On or about February 27, the employer failed to ensure employees working around the Messer Plasma Cutter were protected from the plasma arc rays created by the plasma cutter as employees were not required to wear appropriate goggles or utilizing an adequate flameproof screens or shields on all sides of the machine exposing employees to potential eye injuries. b) On or about March 4, 2025, the employer failed to ensure employees working around the Messer Plasma Cutter were protected from the plasma arc rays created by the torch cutting exposing employees to potential eye injuries.
