29 CFR 1910.1000(d)(2)(i): Employees were exposed to a mixture of methyl propyl ketone, methyl ethyl ketone, and dimethyl ketone (acetone) in excess of the cumulative exposure limit: a) Spray Room, Bay 1: On or about December 3, 2025, an employee's exposure to a mixture of ketone solvents was 1.41 which is in excess of the mixture exposure limit of 1.0 during wrestling mat spraying operations. During a sample period of 312 minutes, the employee's eight-hour time-weighted average (8-hr TWA) exposures were 39.3 parts per million (ppm) for methyl propyl ketone, 127 ppm for methyl ethyl ketone, and 581 ppm for acetone. Zero exposure was assumed for the 168 minutes not sampled. b) Spray Room, Bay 2: On or about December 3, 2025, an employee's exposed to a mixture of ketone solvents was 2.34 which is in excess of the mixture exposure limit of 1.0 during wrestling mat spraying operations. During a sample period of 356 minutes, the employee's eight-hour time-weighted average (8-hr TWA) exposures were 77.0 parts per million (ppm) for methyl propyl ketone, 214 ppm for methyl ethyl ketone, 0.688 ppm methyl isobutyl ketone and 879 ppm for acetone. Zero exposure was assumed for the 124 minutes not sampled. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

Hazardous substances 004004302010

29 CFR 1910.1000(e): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d): a) Spray Room, Bay 1: On or about December 3, 2025, an employee's exposure to a mixture of ketone solvents was 1.41 which is in excess of the mixture exposure limit of 1.0 during wrestling mat spraying operations. The employer did not implement feasible administrative and/or engineering controls to reduce employee exposure levels to below the calculated mixture exposure limit for the mixture of ketone solvents. b) Spray Room, Bay 2: On or about December 3, 2025, an employee's exposure to a mixture of ketone solvents was 2.34 which is in excess of the mixture exposure limit of 1.0 during wrestling mat spraying operations. During a sample period of 356 minutes, the employee's eight-hour time-weighted average (8-hr TWA) exposures were 77.0 parts per million (ppm) for methyl propyl ketone, 214 ppm for methyl ethyl ketone, 0.688 ppm for methyl isobutyl ketone and 879 ppm for acetone. Zero exposure was assumed for the 124 minutes not sampled. The employer did not implement feasible administrative and/or engineering controls to reduce employee exposure levels to below the calculated mixture exposure limit for the mixture of ketone solvents. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED GENERAL METHODS OF CONTROL APPLICABLE IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING: - Increase exhaust ventilation capacity and ensure continuous operation at levels sufficient to maintain airborne solvent concentrations below permissible limits. - Install local exhaust ventilation (LEV) positioned near spray guns and work surfaces to capture ketone vapors at the point of generation and prevent migration into the breathing zone. - Relocate or reconfigure exhaust ventilation fans so that directed airflow does not pass through the employee's breathing zones before reaching the fan. - Optimize supply air system to maintain adequate airflow and dilution ventilation while meeting humidity requirements for production. - Enclose or isolate spraying operations using physical barriers or dedicated spray booths equipped with high-efficiency ventilation systems to contain solvent emissions. - Substitute or reformulate coatings with lower volatility or reduced ketone content where feasible to minimize airborne solvent concentrations. - Automate or mechanize spraying processes to reduce employee exposure duration and frequency. - Implement job rotation by assigning employees to tasks or areas with lower solvent vapor concentrations to reduce their cumulative daily exposure.
