29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s):  Employees engaged in fabrication activities at the Clausing Drill Press, model number 8277, serial number 506859, in the maintenance shop were exposed to amputation hazards in that the point of operation was not guarded. Employees were permitted to operate the Drill Press directly at the point of operation and areas of the rotating spindle, chuck, and drill bit that were not guarded.  Employees were manually removing the fuzz and debris from the plastic parts that stuck on the finished parts and the rotating chuck this was being done while the spindle and the chuck were still engaged and spinning. The motor was not stopped prior to placing the hand into the rotating chuck.

29 CFR 1910.213(i)(1): Non-working portion(s) of the blade of bandsaw(s) were not enclosed or guarded:  Employees engaged in maintenance activities at the Kalamazoo Bandsaw in the maintenance shop were exposed to cut hazards in that the  unused portions of the blade on the right side of the saw were not guarded  leaving employees exposed to a four inches opening on the blade.
