29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii):Protection from arc welding rays. Where the work permits, the welder should be enclosed in an individual booth painted with a finish of low reflectivity such as zinc oxide (an important factor for absorbing ultraviolet radiations) and lamp black, or shall be enclosed with noncombustible screens similarly painted. Booths and screens shall permit circulation of air at floor level. Workers or other persons adjacent to the welding areas shall be protected from the rays by noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields or shall be required to wear appropriate goggles. On or about December 10, 2025, the employer did not ensure that welding operations conducted at the "Platform Station" were enclosed by an individual booth or otherwise adequately screened to protect employees adjacent to the welding area from exposure to welding rays. Welding screens did not fully enclose the welding area, exposing employees to welding radiation hazards.

29 CFR 1910.254(d)(9)(i):The operator should report any equipment defect or safety hazard to his supervisor and the use of the equipment shall be discontinued until its safety has been assured. Repairs shall be made only by qualified personnel. On or about December 8, 2025, the employer did not ensure that the welding operator at the Final Quad Mast Welding Station inspected welding equipment for defects and reported damaged or defective equipment, thereby exposing employees to electric shock and burn hazards.
