Schofield Barracks-Defense Commissary Agency DeCA West, Pacific Area
An employee was slicing meat using a band saw when the movable platform on which the meat was placed stalled. With his right hand on top of the meat, the employee used his right side hip to apply more force on the moving platform to push the meat toward the operating band saw. He was wearing cotton gloves at the time of the incident. The right-hand cotton glove became caught between the meat and the band saw, which consequently dragged his right ring finger toward the point of operation. His finger was amputated.
