An employee was hooking up a flatbed trailer to a pickup truck. While letting the hitch down onto the receiver ball, the hitch became bound. The employee jostled the hitch pin while continuing to let the jack stand down. The hitch slipped while the employee's fingertip was in the safety pin hole, causing a fingertip amputation.
