An employee was working with a helper to change the belt and sheave on an air intake fan. He was manually moving the fan belt while a coworker was pushing it when his gloved left-hand ring finger became caught between the sheave and belt. When he pulled his hand out, the skin came off the first digit of his left ring finger. The first digit had to be surgically amputated.
