An employee was performing inventory by placing oil on the shelves when a customer called out to him. The employee turned from his inventory activities and crossed the second bay pit that was partially covered by a wooden pit cover three feet long. When the employee stepped on the cover, it gave way and the employee fell four feet to the bottom of the pit breaking his right femur.
