Final narrative
An employee was dropping a trailer landing gear and was pulling the fifth wheel release when he heard a popping noise, directly followed by a sharp pain in his right elbow. His elbow started to swell up and required hospitalization.
On April 23, 2024, at approximately 7:30 PM, a driver was picking up a trailer at a rail yard. The employee was using a crowbar and hammer to adjust the pins of the chassis to allow the intermodal container to sit on the chassis. The container shifted and the employee's left hand was caught between the container and chassis, resulting in a partial amputation of their middle, ring, and little fingers.
An employee had pulled his semi-trailer over at a rest stop because the trailer door had opened. He was trying to pull down the door, gripping a strap with one hand and the trailer grip handle with the other hand, when he fell to the ground 2-3 feet below.
