An employee was climbing onto a crane's folding ladder to enter the crane's cab. His hand was wrapped around the ladder's side rail when he put his weight on the rung to climb the ladder. When he applied weight to the folding ladder, the siderail parts straightened and caught one of his right-hand fingers between the two parts, amputating his fingertip.
