An employee was attempting to hitch a box trailer to a pickup truck. As the employee was aligning the ball with the trailer hitch, their fingers were inside the hitch. When the ball aligned with the hitch the fingers were pinched resulting in amputation of the left middle fingertip. The fingertip was reattached at a medical treatment facility.
