An employee was on a manlift approximately 5 feet above the ground while adjusting the rigging on a 12-foot granite column weighing approximately 12,000 pounds. The rigging failed and the column struck the manlift, causing a crush injury to the employee's leg.
After he had changed a block and adjusted the wire rope in the sheave, an employee's right hand was pulled between the wire rope and the block. His hand was amputated and required hospitalization.
