Wiers Farm Incorporated

On or about August 20, 2015 at approximately 4:40 p.m., an employee received a hand injury while working on the pepper production line. The employee was feeling dizzy and went to sit on a small roller conveyor. As he sat down, he put his hand on a moving chain conveyor, which pulled his finger into the sprocket and partially amputated it.

An employee was using a saw to cut a piece of concrete when the piece gave way and pushed the saw into the employee's leg. The employee's leg was lacerated, requiring stitches and hospitalization.

An employee was using a utility knife to cut honeycomb paper when the knife amputated their left index fingertip.

An employee was cleaning a resident's chimney. While using a drill, the employee's glove became caught in the drill and their finger was fractured.

An employee was grinding some hardfacing on a bulldozer blade when the 9-inch grinder kicked back and lacerated his left leg above the knee. The employee was hospitalized and required surgery.

An employee was operating a rotating tool to place thread protectors on the end of pipe. Her left hand was on the rotating part of the tool when the tool engaged, resulting in a left forearm fracture and a thumb laceration.

During pressure testing of a heater pipe, the end-cap blew off and struck an employee in the head and shoulder area. The employee sustained fractures to his collarbone and jaw, as well as injuries to his spleen and liver. He also required stitches in his eyebrow.

An employee was clearing a jam in the fertilizer drill hose. The machine was activated and the door on the fertilizer drill amputated their right middle fingertip. The fingertip required surgery.

An employee was cutting zip ties while securing a hose to a pipe and the knife lacerated the employee's right forearm.

An employee was moving large totes. The tote shifted and knocked him to the ground. He fell on his left side and fractured his left femur.

An employee was cleaning out the belt line on a corn husker machine underneath the gears when their right arm was caught in the gears, resulting in an amputation above the elbow.

An employee was working to deliver mail to an apartment building. She was waiting for a customer to move, to obtain clearance to the mailboxes. The door swung inward and closed on her right little finger. The top half of her finger was surgically amputated.

An employee fell from a step ladder while reaching for a tie-off point. He impacted the ground, and landed on his bolt bag which contained tools. The employee was hospitalized with fractured ribs, and a lacerated spleen and kidney.

On October 30, 2025, an employee was working to adjust a stackable metal shipping container. As the container dropped into place, it caught the employee's hands in an area between the upper and lower cross-members. The employee suffered a laceration to the left ring finger that required stitches, bruising to the right ring finger, and fractures to the right middle finger that necessitated medical amputation of the fingertip.

An employee was moving a scissor lift through a doorway. The employee was pinned between the scissor lift and the doorframe, sustained a back injury, and was hospitalized.

An employee was setting up communication equipment for a meeting. They were walking and tripped over a speaker on the ground. The employee sustained a leg injury.
