At the same time, an automated system was cleaning and removing aggregate from the drag conveyor of asphalt equipment by spraying diesel fuel onto the conveyor. As the cleaning was taking place, the vapors from the diesel fuel ignited, creating a flash fire. The employee was burned on his face, neck, and arms, requiring hospitalization.

A concrete batch plant operator was assisting with clearing spoil piles using a skid steer. The skid steer backed into a stationary screen plant.
