An employee was changing out a water pad near a furnace operating at 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit. He was wearing the maximum level of heat-protective equipment due to the proximity of the furnace. After changing the water pad and going to his locker to change, he developed muscle cramps. He was hospitalized, suffering from heat-related illness.
