Federal OSHA recorded a severe workplace injury at National Park Service, Dingman Falls Visitor Center, DELAWARE WATER GAP, PENNSYLVANIA 18327 on — Concussions, affecting the brain.

An employee was leaving a building when she tripped and fell down a set of four or five stairs, striking her head on the concrete sidewalk below. She suffered a concussion and was hospitalized.

An employee was preparing to conduct maintenance on a riding lawn mower and lifted the mower deck upward to its vertical position with assistance from another employee. A third employee pulled a locking pin, causing the front wheel mount to move forward into the cab. The cab entrance hand hold crushed the little fingers on the injured employee's hands. The employee was hospitalized and required surgical amputation of the right little finger to the second joint, as well as debriding and stitches to the left little finger.

An employee was riding on a stand-up blower to clean leaves and other objects from sidewalks and roads. The blower hit a hole and then struck a tree. The employee's right little finger was crushed.

A ranger was performing back-country patrol duties while hiking. As they were climbing a technical rock patch, a rock handhold broke, causing the employee to fall approximately 15 feet before their belay engaged. The employee contacted a rock, resulting in a fracture to the right ilium as well as a subcutaneous hematoma to the right gluteal region.

An employee was walking near the elevator building when she slipped on ice and fell, hitting the back of her head on the pavement. The employee sustained a skull fracture, cerebral bleed, and temporarily lost consciousness.

An employee was fixing ceiling tiles while working from a ladder when they fell to the floor and sustained a hip fracture.

An employee was unloading appliances at a customer location for delivery. The employee was moving a water heater to be placed on the liftgate when he stepped backward and fell to the ground. The employee sustained rib and back injuries.

An employee was on break in a maintenance shed when a propane space heater caused their clothing to catch on fire, resulting in second- and third-degree burns to their lower back, buttocks, and upper leg.

On October 2, 2024, an employee was loading a plastic table (84" x 18") into the bed of a golf cart from the back. The table slid forward and depressed the gas pedal, releasing the parking brake. The golf cart reversed and pinned the employee between the cart and the front doors of the recreation center. The employee was hospitalized with fractured ribs and a ruptured spleen.

An employee was participating in a skit in the dining hall and was supposed to run into the window as part of the skit. The window broke and the employee fell through the second-story window to the ground below. The employee sustained a fracture to their spinal canal.

An employee was riding on the back of a jet ski on a lake with two team members. The jet ski was stopped and when the driver started to accelerate, the employee fell backward off the vehicle. The jet ski's water exhaust ruptured their skin and injured their internal organs, resulting in hospitalization.

An employee fell approximately 30-35 feet from a zipline, resulting in a fracture to the left heel and a lumbar vertebra that required surgery.

An employee was closing a door when the door closed on their right index finger, resulting in a fingertip amputation.

An employee was walking into the motor control center (MCC) room when his right ring finger was caught in the hinge of a doorway. He sustained an open phalanx fracture, which resulted in a partial amputation above the first knuckle.

An employee was changing the spacing on a telehandler's forks. A fork slipped, and the employee's left index finger was caught between it and the mast. The fingertip was medically amputated at the first knuckle.

McAneny Brothers, Inc.

An employee was pulling down a broken skid with a forklift. When the employee backed up the forklift to get the forks out of the skid he pulled down, he contacted the forks of another parked forklift, fracturing both of his legs. He was hospitalized.

Metz Culinary Management LLC

An employee was carrying cups back to the kitchen when her foot got caught on a cart and she fell face-first. During the fall, a piece of glass from a cup cut the inside of her mouth, severing an artery. She also sustained a laceration on her lower lip. The employee was hospitalized.
