An employee was standing on the fourth or fifth rung of a double-sided, 8-foot ladder and handing a duct up to another employee when the leg of the ladder broke and he fell to the concrete floor, landing on his side and head. The employee was hospitalized with five cracked ribs, a contusion and laceration to the skull, and a bruised lung.
