Pilgrims Pride

An employee was performing maintenance on the ice auger of a machine located on the roof of a processing plant. His arm got caught in the ice auger and sustained a degloving injury. The employee was hospitalized.

An employee tripped and fell to the floor. They were hospitalized with a possible broken bone.

A hopper lid pinched an employee's left ring fingertip as he closed it. The fingertip was amputated in front of the fingernail.

An employee was struck by a forklift and sustained a broken leg.

An employee was working on a production line. The employee went to retrieve parts that came out of the parts holder, and their left hand became caught between a chain and a sprocket. Three fingers on the hand were amputated.

An employee was hooking up bundled tie-downs with a chain. While he was holding a hook, the other hook was unlocked. This caused the employee's hook to slide down and pinch his right index finger between the chain and the shackle. He suffered an amputation to the fingertip (without bone loss), as well as an open fracture.

An employee was operating a pad printer. The employee's finger was caught in the printer and they suffered a fingertip amputation. The part of the printer that caught the employee's finger was unguarded at the time.

An employee was moving a cardboard tote of product using an electric pallet jack. After he turned a corner, he came in contact with a round metal bracket that holds a trash bag mounted to a pole. The pallet jack continued forward and his right hand got caught between the pole and the handle of the jack, resulting in an open fracture and crush injury to his thumb that required hospitalization and surgery.

An employee was cleaning the packer line with a steel wool pad when the pad got caught in the chain and gear sprocket and their hand was pulled in. They sustained a laceration to the right hand.

An employee was adjusting a guard on a box sealing machine when they slipped on tea oil, causing their right thumb to get stuck in the chain/sprocket. The distal portion of the employee's right thumb was amputated.

An employee was removing an egg transport unit (cart) from the back of a box truck. The cart rolled off the lift gate and struck the employee, fracturing their tibia.

An employee was lowering the dock plate after finishing a delivery when his thumb was caught between the plate and the dock, resulting in an open fracture.

After cutting a slab of beef short ribs, an employee turned to grab the pieces he had cut and his right hand contacted the saw blade. The employee sustained an amputation to his right index finger.
