An employee was using a large equipment skid designed to deliver a metered amount of solid product into a production vessel. The equipment contains a large stainless-steel hopper, a dispensing head that is contained inside a stainless-steel housing and an attached scale. The employee was attempting to clean the dispensing head and free a jam when their fingers were caught in the auger, resulting in a partial fingertip amputation on the right hand.
