A construction crew was working on a bore section that crossed under an interstate. One of them was crossing the interstate, and was in the center median next to a cable barrier, when a tire came off a trailer being hauled by a truck and struck his left side. He suffered fractures to his leg and left hip, as well as lacerations to his body and lower abdomen. He was hospitalized, requiring surgery.

While he was standing between his spreader machine and a truck, loading the spreader with bags of fertilizer, a car drove by and struck the spreader.
