Before the incident

He was loading waste on the Giant Resource Recovery truck when he realized that one of the drums would not close (drums cannot be transported unless they are closed)

What happened

He pulled the top of the drum toward himself so that he could tilt the drum on to its edge and roll it back and forth off the skid. When he pulled the drum he felt a strain in his back. At this time his back did not hurt severely so he chose to continue to work. After transporting the drum with a forklift to the satellite location he noticed that the pain in his back was getting worse.
