Before the incident

During a total hip arthroplasty while holding retractors for the surgeon a curette that was being used during the case scrapped the employee finger causing a cut. The employee immediately assessed his gloves and did not see any holes so he proceeded assisting in the case. At the end of the procedure he removed his two sets of gloves and noticed quite a bit of blood on his finger and a cut below is knuckle.
