Before the incident

Securing packaged windows in semi trailer with ratchet strap.

What happened

Started pulling tension on the ratchet strap and the strap came out of the lock rail and employee lost balance. As he fell backwards he put his arm up to catch himself. His left elbow made contact with the metal locking rail on the opposite side of the trailer which caused approximately 1-1 2 inch open laceration on his left elbow.
