Before the incident

Helping support a patient during insertion of spinal anesthesia (epidural)

What happened

Patient was sitting at side of OR table for spinal. She was clinging onto me with her arms around me and into my back putting much of her weight into me nervous and frantic. Trying to console her and reposition her. She jumped as anesthesia was working on her back. When she jumped she pulled with her arms into my back and shoulders. Pulling me up and over to the side. This was a very large patient with a BMI near 50.
