administering insulin

At [REDACTED] this nurse was administering an insulin injection to the patient. After administration this nurse safety locked the insulin needle as designed by manufacturer. The insulin needle was curved sideways and was not encased by the safety lock but was sticking out of the other side. This nurse was handling the syringe to dispose of in sharps container when the bent needle made contact with my hand puncturing the glove and my right thumb. This nurse immediately removed the gloves and handwashed with soap and warm water. Supervisor [REDACTED] made aware of situation and gave instructions for next steps. [REDACTED] was also made aware.
