Before the incident

The operator was removing a cut end from the saw.

What happened

The operator finished cutting a piece of pipe at the prove up saw. He turned the controls off of manual mode and back to automatic. The operator then went to move the cut end he had just cut. While his hand was on the cut end a reject pipe had kicked from the prove-up table and began moving on the conveyor to him. It made contact with the cut end and pinched his hand between the pipe and a roller.
